In silico trial:
a study run on computer models of patients rather than real people.
Virtual cohort:
a simulated group of patients built to reflect a real population.

02 · Evidence strategy · A²I

How credible is each claim?

We check how credible each evidence claim is, using GRADE, the international system for rating how certain evidence is. Model-based evidence is rated by the same GRADE rules as any other evidence. We then:

  • rank the claims that matter most, by how uncertain their evidence is and how much of your case rests on each one;
  • run a responsible-evidence check on whether population-specific evidence exists for the populations a decision-maker names; and
  • set out what your study would need to collect to raise confidence.

HTA (health technology assessment): how health systems judge whether a technology is worth funding.

What A²I does not do

A²I does not give a cost-effectiveness verdict or a recommendation, and does not predict a decision. It produces evidence strategies that inform HTA; it is not an HTA assessment. It is a stress-test, not a submission model.

How we work

Three steps, before protocols are locked.

  1. Set the question

    Choose the decision-maker, define the clinical question, and record the plan before any simulation runs.

  2. Simulate

    Aesculytics runs the in silico trial or virtual cohort.

  3. Grade and plan

    A²I rates each claim, ranks the highest-risk claims, runs the equity check, and sets out what the real study should collect.
